Introduction
For people who have no clue what these things are, let me clarify it for a bit! Prinnies are creatures from the video game series Disgaea. They look like penguins with peg legs, battle with baseball bats and swords that they pull out of their messenger pouch, call everyone “Dood”, have the silliest expressions ever, and explode on impact when thrown. Seriously, how can you not love them?
Ever since I learned how to crochet, I wanted to make a Prinny, but I soon found out that there were no patterns for these little buggers to be found. :( So in the end I just decided to make one myself, and because they turned out pretty awesome (imo) I decided to share the pattern for other Prinny fans. :)
This pattern’s difficulty is intermediate. Most of it is pretty straightforward amigurumi, but some parts like the pouch require some other techniques so I wouldn’t recommend it if you’ve never picked up a crochet hook in your life. ^^;
There are lots of pictures of what all the parts are supposed to look like, maybe it’s a bit overkill, but I always find pictures in patterns extremely helpful.
You will need:
- Crochet hook
- Yarn in colors blue, white, brown, black and yellow
- Small piece of white felt
- Fabric glue or embroidery yarn & needle
- Polyfill stuffing
- Yarn needle
Notes:
- Exact gauge is not important, just use your favorite yarn & hook combination. My Prinnies were made with Catania yarn (sports weight) and a 2.5mm hook, and are approximately 10cm tall.
- I used fabric glue to attach the eyes because I don’t really like the look of sewn-on felt eyes, but feel free to use whatever method works best for you.
- All parts are worked in continuous rounds, except the pouch which uses a combination of back & forth crochet and rounds, and the wings which are just totally weird.
Crochet terms used (US terms):
- Ch: Chain Stitch
- Sc: Single Crochet
- Hdc: Half Double Crochet
- Dc: Double Crochet
- Tr: Treble Crochet
- Sl St: Slip Stitch
- St: Stitch
- Blo: Work in back loop only.
- Inc (Increase): Work two sc into one st
- Dec (Decrease): Work one sc into two sts (I always use the Invisible Decrease)
- Magic Ring
Parts between ** are to be repeated until the end of the round. Numbers between ( ) indicate the amount of stitches you should have at the end of that round.

Assembly
Sewing time! ♥ Because written instructions for this kind of stuff are usually sort of vague, I just made a photo compilation of sewing everything together, with a few tips for placements.
And now you have your very own Prinny! Enjoy! Please don’t hesitate to contact me if something is wrong in the pattern; it is my first pattern after all so little errors may have sneaked in while writing it out. :)
